What gutters cost in St. Louis
St. Louis has three kinds of house, and each one prices differently. Here is what repairs, seamless aluminum, copper half-round, guards and cleaning run on each in 2026. Typical ranges, not a quote — we put a written number on your house after a ladder look.
Three St. Louis houses, three price ranges
The city brick house. Tower Grove, Shaw, the Hill, Dogtown, north city — 1900s to 1950s, two or three stories, a five-foot gangway on each side, often with half-round gutters and sometimes copper. Small footprint, so short runs, but tall ladders and tight access. Half-round aluminum for a typical two-story with 110–140 feet: $1,500–$2,600. Keeping and repairing copper: $250–$600 a visit. New 16-oz copper half-round: $35–$60 a foot, quoted after measuring.
The 1960s–70s ranch. Florissant, Affton, Crestwood, Overland, the older half of Ballwin. Single story, 140–180 feet of gutter, four downspouts, gable roof with four to six corners. The easiest install in the region. Five-inch seamless aluminum: $1,400–$2,200. Six-inch: $1,800–$2,700. The catch is the fascia — sixty years of overflow behind a spike-hung gutter, and a soft board or two is common.
The West County two-story. Chesterfield, Wildwood, western Ballwin, much of St. Charles and O'Fallon, 1980s–2000s. Hip roofs, 200–260 feet of gutter, six to eight downspouts, ten to fourteen corners. Six-inch aluminum with 3x4 downspouts: $2,700–$4,200.

Old gutters come down and go on our trailer at no extra line. Fascia is quoted separately because it is the one number we cannot know from the driveway.
Repairs
Most repair visits land between $150 and $600. A resealed corner is at the low end; a re-hung 30-foot run that lost its pitch, plus a new 3x4 downspout, is near the top. Soldered copper outlets and seams are $150–$300 each and are covered on the copper page. Hail from a spring storm is priced exactly like any other damage — we write it up so your adjuster can read it — and the gutter repair page lists every job by name.
Guards and cleaning
Under sycamores and pin oaks in Webster Groves or Kirkwood, guards are a real decision rather than an upsell. Screen is $5–$9 a foot, stainless micro-mesh $10–$18, reverse-curve $18–$30. The guards page says which type survives which tree.
Cleaning is by house: single-story $120–$200, two-story $180–$300, three-story city brick priced after a look. The cleaning page explains what the visit includes; the fee is credited against any repair we find.
What pushes a St. Louis quote up
- Height. Every extra story is more ladder time and a second person on the ground.
- Corners. A hip roof in Wildwood with twelve miters takes longer to seal than a Florissant gable with four.
- Gangways. City brick houses five feet apart mean ladders go up from the neighbor's side or not at all.
- Fascia rot. Common on 1960s ranches; we test with a screwdriver before the number goes on paper.
- Copper. Material cost alone is several times aluminum, and soldering is slow work.
- Where the water goes. Clay soil and full basements mean we push for extensions or buried lines, which add a few hundred dollars and save a waterproofing bill.
A Webster Groves example
A 1920s two-story frame house with 150 feet of aluminum half-round, five round downspouts, eight feet of soft fascia at the back porch and a detached garage with 40 feet of 5-inch K-style. Half-round at $16 a foot is $2,400; the garage at $10 is $400; fascia at $12 is $96; extensions on three downspouts are $120. Around $3,000, done in one day. A $1,900 bid for the same house is K-style with spikes, and the half-round look is gone.
How to compare two gutter estimates
Line them up on five things: metal gauge (.032 or .027), hanger type and spacing (hidden hangers every two feet, not spikes), downspout size (3x4 or 2x3), whether fascia and haul-away are included, and where each downspout terminates. Gutter installation cost St. Louis-wide is close enough between honest companies that a bid far below the others is missing one of those five. Any gutter estimate St. Louis contractors hand you should be free, written, itemized and good for a month. Anyone who needs a signature before dark is selling a discount, not a gutter.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace gutters?
On a St. Louis house, repair when the metal is sound aluminum or copper and the trouble is at two or three spots — a corner, a downspout, one sagging run. Replace when the gutters are sectional, galvanized and rusting, or more than a third of the footage has lost its pitch. Three repair visits in three springs costs more than one new system and comes with no warranty.
Does homeowners insurance cover gutter damage in Missouri?
Sudden damage — spring hail, straight-line wind, a sycamore limb, an ice load that pulled a run off the fascia — is usually covered less your deductible. Wear and old age are not. Check whether your policy has a separate wind and hail deductible; in Missouri it is often 1–2% of the dwelling value, which can swallow a gutter-only claim. How much are gutters for a 2,000 sq ft house in St. Louis?
On a single-story ranch of that size, expect 150–180 feet of gutter: $1,400–$2,300 in 5-inch seamless aluminum, $1,800–$2,900 in 6-inch. A two-story of the same square footage has less roof edge but more ladder work, so it lands in a similar range. Half-round on a city brick house of that size runs $2,000–$3,300.
